Anton Meenan
Anton Meenan is one of the younger Tory painters. With the help of Derek Hill he enrolled as a student at the Regional Technical College, Letterkenny, where he spent a year and a half before returning to the island. His stay in Letterkenny opened his eyes to an international world of painting and when he commenced painting again on the island it was a style completely different from his earlier primitive works.
Anton is thoroughly professional in his approach and tireless in his pursuit of perfection. He takes great care with his composition; makes use of subtle shades of grey and brown; and emphasises the contrasting textures of the rugged landscape. These characteristics combine to provide a unique and poetic interpretation of the island.
