Sue Howells

Sue Howells is a self-trained artist and now works full time as a painter. She works mainly in watercolours but also likes to experiment and try out new painting techniques and different materials.

Sue has, at first glance, what appears to be a very casual style but this can only be achieved with endless hours of practice and many years of experience.

Sue has held a number of solo exhibitions throughout the UK and her work now appears in many private collections throughout the world.

1982 Studied watercolour techniques and theory
1983 Began solo projects placing work with local interior designers
1984 Sold work for display in local art galleries
1988 Joined Friends of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists
1989-1991 Showed paintings at R.B.S.A
1991 Exhibited 3 paintings at “Britains Painters” at Westminster Galleries
1994 Received the Windsor and Newton Prize at the RBSA Open Watercolour Exhibition
1995 Supplied 10 paintings to B.B.C for inclusion in “Soaps” series
1996 Received “Highly Commended” award at R.B.S.A
Paintings accepted at Bond Gallery Birmingham
Exhibited at Mall Gallery London
Became associate member of R.B.S.A
1997 One Woman show at Helios Galley Birmingham-sold out
